Women Keelboat Match Race for the 2012 Olympics

Estoril 9 November 2007. At ISAF:s Annual Conference it was decided that the format for the 2012 Olympic Games Keelboat Women Event will be Match Racing in supplied boats. The IYA will submit to ISAF that the Yngling will be used as the equipment for the Women Match Racing.

The IYA have already established a communication with relevant Match Racing organisations and look forward to work together in creating opportunities for Yngling Match Racing as well as recruiting and training into Match Racing.

The Yngling is considered well positioned to be selected equipment for the 2012 Olympic Match Racing Event. A relative slow boat with not too narrow turning radius will provide classic, tight and tactical Match Racing. Being the equipment for the two previous Olympic games the Yngling is well spread around the world.  There are currently 5 active Yngling builders on three different continents and a large Open fleet.
