New Class Rule on spinnaker cloth

After extensive consultations with ISAF the new spinnaker cloth rule has been published on the ISAF website, and I attach it for your convenience [ed. note: see link to ISAF below]. For Women's events spinnaker MUST be made of one of the cloths on the approved list of Appendix A. However, if they have a spinnaker which was made before 15 November, and it is made of one of the approved cloths in Appendix A they can send it back to the sailmaker and get it stamped and signed that it conforms to the new rules. Note that even if a spinnaker is made of cloth which is above 38 gsm (the old rule) but is not on the list in Appendix A it will NOT be legal for Womens events.
For "Open Class" events spinnakers which have been certified and are of cloth weight greater than 38gsm will be legal, even if they are made of a cloth which is not on the list in Appendix A, but they will not be legal for women's events. Thus for Open Class sailors all their present >38 gsm spinnakers  remain legal, no problem, but new spinnakers will have to be made of an approved cloth.
We have been working very hard to finalize this new rule and apologise for the delay as I know that many sailors have put off buying new spinnakers waiting for this rule.
Please make all Yngling sailors aware of this rule change which comes into effect today.

IYA Chief Measurer Peter Hinrichsen
