Worlds 2022: Koper cancelled – new venue Travemünde

posted in: Information | 0

The organising club JK Jadro Koper has because of unforeseen circumstances – the death of David Antoncic, who was the driving force of the organisation of the Worlds – cancelled the championship. We are saddened by the passing of David Antoncic.

Thanks to the energetic help of Yngling Germany we can now hold the Worlds during the Travemünder Woche. We already had a World Championship there in 2014 and will certainly have another successful sailing event.

The preliminary schedule is as follows:

  • Sunday July 24:  Registration and Measurement
  • Monday  July 25:  Registration and Measurement
  • Tuesday  July 26:  Registration and Measurement and eventually Practice Race (to be confirmed); Opening Ceremony
  • Wednesday July 27:  Racing
  • Thursday  July 28:  Racing
  • Friday July 29: Racing
  • Saturday July 30:  Racing, Price Giving Ceremony

There will be a Regatta Dinner (date to be defined), but no Lay Day. Further details and registration procedure will follow soon. The Travemünder Woche – ‘world’s most beautiful regatta’ – has this year its 133th edition.
We regret all the inconveniences caused by this change to our sailors and their families.

Hope to see you in Travemünde!
