Dear all,
here is an update to the World Championship Berlin 2020. The host club has indicated that the organization of the event will be difficult, both due to Corona and also due to the shortfall of sponsorships. We as the IYA ExCo have, after a joint discussion, decided that we want to wait with making a decision. If government measurements restrict us, or if we see that the sailors or volunteers need to take too big risks, we will decide for a postponement of the Worlds to July 2021. The decision will be made May 28th at the latest. We still hope for a positive outcome. Although it might mean a trimmed down Worlds, we still want to give our sailors the opportunity to sail.
We understand this might cause difficulties with regards to planning your trip. Our sincere apology for that, but we think it is a too easy decision to cancel this early. We ask for your understanding and hope that we can give the sailors something to look forward to as “light at the end of the tunnel”.
